Day 6- Monday 26th March 2007
The Boy's Work Experience, London Town
or, Loos of London (the Bog Blog)

After a frantic dash back to Sheffield by train, a working Saturday for me, eating the samphire (which The Boy liked very much!), football for him on Sunday, and another dash back to London Town on Sunday evening, we were back for a second week of: tube to TCR, coffee in Caffe Nero etc etc etc. Except this morning was different as we were a) early so The Boy accompanied me for a hot chocolate before 'work' and b) meeting Someone! That someone was the lovely Italian Anna, a wonderful lady I had 'met' on the Weight Watchers message boards (of all places) and who I had struck up a friendship with whilst she was trying to help me unravel the mysteries of the London Transport Oyster card for 14 - 15 year olds. The fabulous Italian Anna had taken the whole day off work and had got us tickets to see the Kylie's Pants exhibition (its official title!) at the V+A.

So, we dispatched The Boy off to work and took the tube to South Kensington for the museum. A very impressive place with nice, clean toilets. This is the entrance foyer though, not the loos.

Kylie's Pants were.... incredibly small. I think the woman must be built on a slightly smaller scale than us mere mortals, except for her feet, which looked to be about a size 4. So, an elf with big feet. We had fun looking at her pants, anyway, but even more fun looking at all the old statues and shit.
This wasn't, sadly, the real David, but we were impressed anyway (though not by his gentleman's parts!).

Italian Anna said she's like one of these in her garden - if she had a garden! It was, however, about 15 foot tall. Anna, as she told me several times, is only 5 foot 1.5inches - I would have liked to see her get it home from the garden centre!

Of course, we made use of the cafe, which had this wonderful ceiling and these magnificent lights. I had lapsang souchong again - my favourite tea, but not many places serve it. It's well posh in the V+A! Another toilet visit followed, this one had lovely antique tiling.

As I am a Library Assistant, and it is the law that Library staff must take a photo of a library every time they go away, here is mine. I dunno what the books were about, as this library was shut, but it's very pretty all the same! (we're still in the V+A btw).
After the V+A we wandered along by Hyde Park to Kensington High Street, stopping for lunch in a place called Giraffe or some other animal. Once we hit the shops I introduced Anna to the joys of buying children's clothes in H+M, and we were repulsed by Madonna's nylon collection there. As it had been in the shops for about a week by that time and there was still quite a lot of stuff left, we figured we weren't alone there!
We took the bus to TCR (no idea where I was really, just following Anna's instructions!) to meet The Boy at 6pm (where did the day go?!). So thanks to Anna for a lovely day!! Home on the tube to Tudor Towers, where The Boy spent his evening using the laptop to MSN his mates.
