Days 10 - Thursday 29th March 2007
The Boy's Work Experience, London Town or,
Loos of London (the Bog Blog)

Today was the day I decided to do one of the walks I'd downloaded from t'internet, so of course today it rained! It was also about minus 30 degrees, or at least it felt like it. My walk, entitled Temples of London, got somewhat abridged. I began at Temple tube station, which is very nice.

From there I walked in the freezing rain to Somerset House where they no longer keep the records of births, deaths and marriages. There is an Art gallery which was silly expensive to go in, and these nice stairs, but it all looked a bit official and I felt like I wasn't sposed to be there so I moved swiftly on.

This is their courtyard, where apparently they have a spectacular fountain display, but not in the rain.

I attempted to continue following the walk, but my fingers were numb and the paper was getting wet and it wasn't much fun at all, so I gave in and went underground again, heading for somewhere far, far more exciting!

Kings Cross Station, PLATFORM 9 1/2!!!!!

I zapped back across town to meet the Lovely Anna for lunch at Russell Square. We had a browse Waitrose-wise, and then she went back to work. Here she is, working....

I did some more shopping after lunch, and then at the usual time I went to meet The Boy from work. We went to a place called Moaz for felafel, then headed off to the British Museum to be blown away (again) by the exhibits.

Here are some of the things we saw......

This was a sort of goat thing, made of gold....

This is Babylonian I think, probably Lilith, or some other Death goddess.

The Egyptian statuary was incredible! So perfect, and all of it about 6,000 years old!! Mind-blowing really.

An incredibly old dead guy. You can see bits of his hair....

WOW!!

This is The Boy standing next to a real, genuine Easter Island statue.

The British Museum rocks! We loved it, and it's FREE.

Go there!

Days 8 and 9 - Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th March 2007
The Boy's Work Experience, London Town
or, Loos of London (the Bog Blog)

Quite a busy Tuesday but didn't take any photos. Walked from TCR to Leicester Square, then took the tube to Knightsbridge again and went back to Harrods. Used the loos. Bought almonds, and rose teabags. Then I went to Edgeware Road, getting a little lost underground on the way, with some green/yellow line confusion! I had a lovely wander up the Edgeware road and bought rosewater and preserved lemons, which was what I'd gone there for. At Marble Arch I turned onto Oxford Street, and wandered all the way up there to meet The Boy at 1.30 for lunch. We went to a Thai buffet restaurant which served about 7 different types of mock duck and some tofu so we were in heaven! After The Boy went back to work I went to Planet Organic near Warren Street station for a cup of tea and a slice of gluten-free strawberry cake. Walked back along TCR, calling in Paperchase, and had a coffee in Pret. After I met The Boy we had a drink in Nero on Oxford Street and then headed back to Tudor Towers for another takeaway curry.

Wednesday morning I had a brief detour to Liberty to use their loos again and buy some soap, then took the tube to Paddington. From there I got the train to Slough, and on to Windsor. At Windsor Station my beautiful niece-in-law J met me with the littlies, Fgirl and Fboy. Their daddy, my handsome nephew A, came to meet us for lunch and we had an enormous quantity of tapas and made a phenomenal mess, which was fun. I bought Fgirl some sunglasses from H&M.

Then we went for a walk (not A, he had to go back to work, which upset Fgirl no end!) and looked at the castle, and went on the swings. Me and Fboy had a lovely shout at the pigeons.

After that I rushed back to London on the train, tube back to TCR, met The Boy from work, probably had some food (can't remember) and went to the cinema to see The 300, which was awesome.
